Casey started working with Awanui in 2021 as a cover for maternity leave in the biochemistry laboratory. She subsequently accepted a full-time position in the laboratory focusing on trace element testing.

In 2024 Casey moved from the biochemistry laboratory to food chemistry as it was more aligned with her chemistry background. In her short time in food chemistry, she has gained KTP status for many of the tests offered and signatory status.

Outside of work Casey enjoys spending time with her husband and her kitten Diablo, playing video games and watching reruns of TV shows, and playing hours of SingStar non-stop.
